Cut Edge Corrosion Treatment
Cut edge corrosion is a primary cause of premature roof failure on clad industrial and commercial buildings. We offer a specialist treatment service that halts corrosion and seals vulnerable panel edges, preventing water ingress and extending the life of your roof sheet investment.
CUT EDGE PROTECTION CHESTER
What is Cut Edge Protection?
Cut edge protection is a targeted treatment for the exposed metal edges of coated steel roof sheets where the protective factory coating is thinnest. The process involves the mechanical preparation of the corroded edge, followed by the application of a specialist anti-corrosion system. This seals the edge and overlaps, preventing moisture ingress and stopping the delamination process.
Prevents Roof Leaks
Directly treats a primary cause of water ingress on clad buildings by creating a durable, waterproof seal.
Extends Roof Lifespan
A proactive maintenance treatment that significantly extends the serviceable life of the entire roof system.
Halts Corrosion
Stops the corrosive creep and peeling (delamination) at its source to prevent further damage.
Cost-Effective
An economical repair that prevents the need for more expensive remedies like sheet replacement or full re-coating.

OUR PROCESS
Our Cut Edge Treatment Process
We use market-leading treatment systems for durable, long-term protection against cut edge corrosion.
1.
Roof Survey & Corrosion Assessment
To conduct a thorough inspection of all panel overlaps and ends to identify the extent of corrosion.
2.
Mechanical Surface Preparation
The corroded area is prepared using mechanical wire brushes or grinders to remove all loose material back to a sound edge.
3.
Application of Corrosion Primer
A specialist anti-corrosion primer or treatment is applied to the prepared bare metal to inhibit future rust.
4.
Application of Protection System
A high-performance mastic, tape, or coating is applied over the treated edge to completely seal the area from moisture.
5.
Final Quality Inspection
A final inspection is performed on all treated edges to ensure a complete and effective seal has been achieved.
